'Chance to Shine'

Years 4,5,6 have enjoyed an assembly led by cricket coach Zoe Pugh from the Oxfordshire Cricket Board 'Chance to Shine' programme. The assembly was focused on the theme of 'rivalry' and 'playing hard, playing fair'. This was illustrated through the England World Cup win and reflected on how both teams, New Zealand and England, would have felt through the highs and lows of the competition. Pupils learned the importance of developing their character through sport: being respectful to opponents, shaking hands and congratulating the winning team whilst showing respect to the losing side.

Year 6 pupils then had a follow-up classroom session to show how you can use sport to support learning. Pupils completed arithmetic maths challenges linked to cricket.
