Inter-Academy Primary Football Festival

Inter-Academy Primary Football Festival: Year 5/6

Academy pride was top of the list on Friday 22nd January when 4 of the Academy primary schools came together at Banbury Academy to participate in the second of the ‘Aspirations Inter-Academy’ Primary Sports Festivals. The day promoted a number of conditions fostered by the Aspirations Academies Trust such as Belonging, Leadership and Responsibility, Fun and Excitement and Sense of Accomplishment.

Football Festival Jan 16 PracticeThe Year 5/6 teams spent the morning brushing up their dribbling, passing and shooting skills in sessions expertly planned and delivered by Banbury Academy Year 10 and 11 GCSE PE sports leaders. After a well-deserved lunch break they took part in a round robin tournament in which the standard of football was exceptionally high. Each match was highly competitive and very exciting to watch!

The overall winners were Oriel with Harriers coming a close second. The day was a great success, with all the students demonstrating fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. Certificates were awarded to the winning teams at the end of the festival and also to students who had demonstrated particularly good teamwork. Well done to all these students and everyone that took part! Tyrese and Keira  from Dashwood won individual awards. Well done!

Thank you to the Banbury Academy leaders: Kieron, Cody, Nathan, Reece, Freddie, Finlay, Alex, Ismael, Markus, Alex, Leighton and Taylor who helped make the event such an enjoyable success.
